1. Check your internet speed
Chrome will work slow because your internet is slow, so before blaming Chrome, make sure that your internet connection is slow. And Speedtest.net is a good website for testing internet speed. Another reason for the slow internet may be that the internet is slowed down in your area, maybe it is from the government or you are browsing or downloading at a time when there is a lot of traffic on that web site (or you are using slow internet).
2. Update to the latest version of Chrome
Every latest version of Chrome comes with new features, security fixes and performance improvements, so if you update to the latest version of Chrome, hopefully your browsing speed problem will be solved. And even if the browsing speed does not increase, it will keep you safe from threats in the internet world.
And usually the Chrome browser is automatically updated, so you are probably using the latest version of the Chrome browser. And if you do not automatically update the Chrome browser for some reason, you will see a yellow or red arrow-like icon in the top right corner.
Having this yellow or red arrow-like icon means that Chrome is waiting for your permission to install the update of the Chrome browser, so all you have to do is close the Chrome browser or click on the arrow icon and then click on the Update Google Chrome button or from the settings of Google Chrome. Once updated, your Chrome browser will restart and the latest Chrome version will be installed.
3. Scan for malware
If your problem is still not resolved, you can check if there is any malware on your system first without going to the settings of the Chrome browser. Do a scan with any anti-malware tool of your choice and make sure there is no malware in the background of your system that is using your internet to steal information from your system. And they usually display additional ads or track you on the web sites you browse and use resources from your system to do this malware work, so that your computer and browser can work slow.
4. Run the Chrome Cleanup tool
Once upon a time, Google developed a program called the Chrome Cleanup Tool that can detect potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), just like toolbars and other tools can automatically install extensions in your Chrome browser and they can not detect your antivirus.
Google has then integrated the Chrome cleanup tool directly into Chrome and you will get the cleanup tool by navigating to the Advanced > Reset and clean up > Clean up computer option > these settings. Now, run the cleanup tool and it will check if you have any software that can slow down your browser.
5. Uninstall unnecessary extensions
By following the tips above, many can increase the speed of the browser and many cannot, so if you are on this list (browser speed has not increased), check how many extensions are installed in your Chrome browser. Extensions and tabs are the most resources used on your system, so you get less browser speed.
Let's start with the extension: Press Shift + Esc buttons on your keyboard together to see which ones are using the most CPU and RAM from Chrome's Task Manager. Now check which process is using the most resources and find out which of these you do not need.
To uninstall extensions, click the extension's toolbar icon and select Remove from Chrome. Or type chrome://extensions in the address bar and go to the extension page and remove unnecessary extensions from there. Remember, the fewer extensions you use, the faster your Chrome browser will work.
6. Close unused tabs
If you are the type of person who opens a tab for each task and leaves them unused for later, and this makes your browser very slow. And for this, close the tabs that you are no longer using.
I repeat, close the tabs you don't need, and you can bookmark the web site links later to browse again. Moreover, you can try the Great Suspender extension, through which you can set different criteria so that the unloading tabs can be reloaded automatically.
However, the speed of your browser depends on how many tabs you tend to open. Try to open as few tabs as possible.
7. Reset browser settings
If your Chrome browser is still working slowly, then now you have to reset your browser settings to the default state, so there will be no extensions, custom search engines or other saved settings in your browser. Resetting the settings is difficult because we have a lot of data saved in the browser, but you will probably notice that the speed of the browser has increased.
To reset the Chrome browser, navigate to Settings > Advanced > Reset and clean up > Restore settings to their original defaults > Reset settings. And it will take some time to reset the setting, wait and check if the browser speed is increasing.
Final Words
I have discussed many methods above to increase the speed of Chrome browser, each method may work for each person. So by tuning, tell us which method worked in your case.
